Master Valdiley

The Apprentice Who Surpassed the Master

Today acclaimed among the most renowned master carpenters in Marajó, he had a late and unusual initiation when he still thought his professional vocation was to be a fisherman.
Vila do Céu emerged in response to a natural catastrophe, on land donated by the city council after the destruction of several fishermen's houses by the force of the tide. The housing project called on several master carpenters from Marajoara to build the houses, and local young people to become apprentice carpenters, among them was Valdiley, at the time, just a young man with no contact with the carpentry trade, without any vocation or interest in it. area.

Without a family tradition in carpentry, he decided to do it his way, with his style and transformed Vila do Céu into one of the main tourist destinations in Marajó. Every day, dozens of people go to the fishing village to admire the houses built by Valdiley

His mentor, master Antônio Carlos, admits with great pride and without saying anything “Valdiley is the apprentice who surpassed the master”.
